Thinking you can Think

Anecdote

Back in the 1980s, when people asked me what the topic of my PhD was and I replied "Artificial Intelligence", few people had heard of it. Not unnaturally, they asked me what it was. To this, I would say "Trying to make computers think they can think".

Nowadays, what used to be called Artificial Intelligence is now called "Artificial General Intelligence", as the original term had been over-used.

It's still about trying to make computers think they can think, though.
