Anecdote
For some reason, we missed the first episode of this season of Dr Who, so we've been watching it an episode behind. I kept trying to persuade my wife to watch two episodes in a row but she always had some streamed programme or other she wanted to watch so wouldn't accede to it.
This week, though, there was an England match on that disrupted her planned viewing on Sunday evening, so I was able to convince her that it would be a good idea to catch up on the latest episode in the hour or so before kick-off. Next week is the final episode of the series, so we'll be able to watch that live.
Ah. It turned out that the penultimate episode was the first part of a double-length episode. The final episode next week is the second part. We'd have been better off not watching it, then watching both, one afteer the other, next week. Now, we have to wait for the final episode to air instead.
They really ought to warn people when an episode is the first part of a double episode.
