Anecdote
It's taken almost a fortnight, but we now have a new drive and patio. I have no idea what it cost because if my wife told me then the shock would probably induce a coronary.
Here's a brief timeline of the highlights:
There were 11,000 bricks laid overall. The construction people brought in six Albanians from London to lay them. They were quite fast, but I'm worried because Albanians are Muslims and when Muslims make a pattern they're supposed to introduce an imperfection so as not to succumb to hubris. I expect nine years from now I'll see a brick has been put in upside-down somewhere.
The construction people did dig quite deep, but not so deep as to find any of the bodies I've buried, so my secrets are still safe.
