Anecdote
I was in Colchester today to buy some euros (ouch!) and some A4 box files (ouch! too, come to that). I noticed that there were more beggars on the street than usual. I didn't recognise any of them, and although they looked tough and wiry they didn't look rough.
Hmm, well unless we're importing them from somewhere it was probably either a surveillance operation or a training exercise. This is what happens when you have a major army barracks nearby.
Why are people in shops always so surprised when I say that yes, I so indeed want a carrier bag and am prepared to pay 5p for the privilege?
