I remember when the composer Rodrigo died in 1999, there was something in the newspaper saying that he was one of the few composers to create a work that everyone could recognise from the opening four notes (Concierto de Aranjuez). Beethoven managed the same thing for his Fifth Symphony.
You have to hand it to Delia Derbyshire, though. Her arrangement of Ron Grainer's theme for Dr Who nails it in two.
