Anecdote
On the ground floor of the new multi-storey car park at Essex University, alongside the spaces reserved for wheelchair users, are spaces with this sign in them:
Although it looks as if they're intended for toasters, actually they're for electric vehicles. There's nowhere for them to plug in and recharge, though, there's just the spaces. So, why is that?
I'm indebted to my wife for the answer: it's because they don't have the power to get up the slope to the floor above.
