Anecdote
A few days ago, I remembered that it was about this time last year when I jumped onto a small wall, slipped and gashed my shin.
Here's what my leg looks like today:
As you can see, I still have a quite noticeable contusion. It doesn't hurt or anything, but if I possessed a pair of shorts and ever wore them, people would notice it — even if I tanned.
So, it's healing nicely. 25 years ago, though, it would already have completely disappeared, judging by what happened when I accidentally sliced off the right side of my left index finger down to the bone with a modelling knife. Mind you, 25 years ago the university's health centre actually treated casualties instead of telling them to go die off campus.
