Anecdote
Note to fellow members of staff at Essex University: if you injure yourself and need first aid, don't go to the Health Centre. They may have a nurse and a doctor there, but they will tell you to drive yourself to your own doctor's surgery or to the hospital. It looks as if the General Medical Council's guidelines for Good Medical Practice have a loophole: if a doctor decides you're not a patient, none of it applies.
