Going Postal

Anecdote

I'm going to be in Jersey on election day, so for the first time in my life I applied for a postal vote.

It's now arrived, only four days after I was assured it would. Here are my options:

Only the Reform and Conservative candidates actually live in the constituency.

The Conservatives have sent me three pieces of campaign literature (two of which were identical and received on the same day).
The Liberal Democrats have sent me two pieces (one of which is for the wrong constituency).
Reform has sent me one piece, listing all the things it wishes to stop.
Labour and the Greens have yet to send me any campaign literature, but Labour has spammed me on Youtube (with ads for the wrong constituency).

The Conservatives are going to win Harwich and North Essex. The current MP has been in post for 32 years and does a decent job regarding local affairs; last time round, he garnered garnered 61.3% of the votes. I'm therefore going to spend my vote trying to save someone's deposit. I won't be voting Reform UK as I think it's them who need reforming more than the UK. The Liberal Democrats got 5.4% last time and the Greens got 2%. You need 5% to get your deposit back, so assuming that some Liberal Democrats will vote Labour in the vain hope that they might challenge the Conservatives, I think I'll back the Liberal Democrats. The Greens are unlikely to get close to 5% so their £500 is heading to the exchequer or wherever lost deposits go.

Now to find a booth so I can vote in secret.
