Anecdote
I'm currently at Gatwick Airport, having arrived even more stupidly early for my flight than usual because my wife is somehow more paranoid about missing flights than I am.
We looked at the various parking options and saw there was an offer on valet parking so went with that. Unfortunately, valet parking is not signposted at Gatwick and I missed the turn I should have taken. As a result, I wound up driving through the drop-off zone, which cost me £6 even though I didn't stop.
Our flight is to Barcelona, where we're boarding a cruise round the Gulf of Lyon and Italian coast. The turnaround is very tight, so we're hoping there'll be no delays.
We'll be missing the final of the European Championship. We did know that this would be the case, but we weren't expecting England to be in it. Stilll. Spain is the better team and we'll probably lose, so it's maybe just as well.
