Spring used to start on the vernal equinox, but some years ago weather forecasters started telling us it began on 1st March. This caused some pushback among TV viewers, so weather forecasters began calling it the start of "meteorological spring" and the old method "astronomical spring". On breakfast TV on 1st March this year, that's how it was described.
This morning, I drove to work in snow.
This is why I would rather trust an astonomer over a meteorologist.
