Outburst
It's a glorious morning here in our part of Essex. The sun is shining, there's a cloudless sky and only a soft breeze to ruffle the treetops. It was the same thing at 5:30, except with even less wind.
Nevertheless, the balloon flight I was supposed to be on was cancelled. All Virgin balloon flights in Essex were cancelled on Friday, citing strong winds and clouds.
This is the fourth occasion we've booked a Virgin balloon flight and it's been cancelled. We were given the vouchers as a gift by a friend, and they're good for two years plus six months after any cancelled flight. We're already in year three. This means I have to book another flight between now and January (although the flight can be scheduled for after then — it only has to be booked between now and then). If we don't (or, more likely, can't) book the flights, the vouchers end and Virgin pockets the £800 they cost (each).
I'm starting to wonder just how many Virgin balloon flights ever take place in the vicinity of Colchester. There certainly doesn't seem to be much of an incentive for them to operate any.
