Anecdote
We spent today walking 7½ miles around Lisbon. It's a classy place (although you don't have to go far to catch whiffs of wee). The highest part is the castle, from which there are spectacular views:
A quarter of the population of Portugal lives here, so it's pretty big. Most of them seem to occupy flats in buildings 5 or 6 storeys in height, although there are some taller ones further out. They nevertheless manage to geep a consistent look about them, which is part of the city's charm. I've been here three times now, and would definitely return for fourth.
Quote of the day, from a tour guide: "The bridge is over a thousand kilometres long".
