Anecdote
I'm visiting my home town of Hornsea today, this weekend. Normally, it's best characterised as being 14 miles east of nowhere: it tries hard but gets few visitors However, following the end of lockdown it's suddenly become a lot busier. By some quirk of statistics, it's become Airbnb's the top-trending seaside destination of 2022. I can only imagine that the other seaside towns have gone even more downhill.
Hornsea also has the title of having the UK's sunniest beach in terms of hours of sunshine. I can actually believe this, but what it doesn't mention is that there's a reason the world's largest wind farm is built off the coast....
