Anecdote
Our elder daughter visited us over the weekend, and over lunch today asked us all how many houses/flats we'd lived in.
Hmm.
Carr Side, Great Ouseburn, West Yorkshire
Gasville Terrace, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Newbegin, Hornsea, East Yorkshire
The Crescent, Hornsea, East Yorkshire
10/14 Eddington Tower, Essex University, Essex
Heath Road, Wivenhoe, Essex
10/16 Eddington Tower, Essex University, Essex
Hereward Close, Wivenhoe, Essex
Colchester Road, Great Bentley, Essex
Hugh Dickson Road, Colchester, Essex
Grantham Road, Great Horkesley, Essex
Queens Road, West Bergholt, Essex
So that's 12 then.
I did stay in two other flats at the university over consecutive summers for a couple of years, which would bring it up to 14. I was only in them for two or three months, though, so they don't really count.
I regard my home town to be Hornsea, where I lived from the age of 3 to 18. I didn't really move out until I was 21 and starting my PhD, when I rented the place in Wivenhoe.
The theory my daughter was advancing was that there's a relationship between the number of houses/flats people have lived in and how insidious the rental market is. Interestingly, both she and her sister are in the region of 11 or 12 houses/flats each, too, so there perhaps is indeed a correlation with growing landlordism.
Yes, that second address is indeed Gasville Terrace.
