Anecdote
It's the Colchester Games Fair today.
The Colchester Games Fair is a bit like GenCon was when I went in the 1990s, except for having no games rooms, no celebrities on show and a sales floor two hundred times smaller. I bought a couple of things, though, so my visit was productive, but I left before the bring-and-buy sale changed over from being bring to being buy; it was my own fault for getting there early to beat the crowds (although the rain would probably have done that for me).
The age range was skewed towards people over 40, and gender-wise maybe 75% male. Most people were wearing face masks, because gamers are on the whole sensible people, but some had brought children under the age of 10 with them. Given how many of these currently have COVID-19 in the UK, I'll be taking a test next Friday to make sure I haven't caught it off them.
On the whole, it was a pleasant way to pass 30 minutes. I just wish it had been larger so I could have spent longer there, though.
