Anecdote
Last March, a week before the first lockdown, I decided that I ought to try to become less unfit by going for a walk before work. I kept this up until late November, when the weather suggested that it was a bad idea. I was intending to start again this March, but with my teaching timetable packed with 9am and 8am starts it wasn't worth it.
I did have an 8am start yesterday (a 3-hour supervisory meeting in Sweden over Zoom), but the teaching term at Essex is over so I can start going out again. The clement weather helped me make my decision, as did the fact I've had my first vaccination against this bug that's going around.
I passed or was passed by four dog walkers, two cars, two vans and one non-jogging jogger.
Strictly speaking, I didn't pass one of the dog walkers because I turned round before I reached him. I had taken against him when I went out walking last year, so not being walked past by me was a deliberate slight. I hope he learns his lesson.
