Anecdote
I recently found some old negatives wrapped up in a sheet of paper. They're from 1981 and were taken on my graduation day. I only know this because I scanned them and inverted the colours in Corel Photo-Paint.
It doesn't look as if they're in good enough condition to be used for creating any more prints. I'm pretty sure I do have the original prints somewhere, but those are likely to have changed colour in the intervening 39 years.
Still, at least I got a graduation day, unlike the students who graduated in 2020.
