Anecdote
Because children won't be going round people's houses this Hallowe'en demanding money with menaces, and alternative has been arranged in our village. Its industrious knitting circle has made something like 50 four-inch diameter woolly pumpkins and hung them off assorted road signs. Children cross off the ones they see on a map, then their parents give them treats. I think.
Here's an example of one, so you can see what they look like:
I took that yesterday. Today, thanks to steady rain for six hours so far, it probably looks a little more bedraggled.
The sunglasses are nothing to do with this exercise. If the road sign is wearing them in an effort to appear cool, it's not succeeding.
