Anecdote
I spoke at a get-together of the Game Academy in London yesteday. The slides are here http://mud.co.uk/richard/GameAcademy.pdf, although most will be familiar from other talks so don't expect anything new.
The interesting part of the event was afterwards, when there was a discussion among the attendees. There were some smart people there — smart enough to advance ideas and modify their own if other people's were better. That's not something you see a lot of on the Internet these days, but face-to-face is much more congenial.
That said, I left before they finished the wine, so they might have got into a fist fight or something afterwards.
