I've no idea of where it lives or how it gets into our garden. If it can eat wasp-infested apples without problem, though, I'm tempted to entice it to have a go at eating the brambles that are leaping onto our lawn from all angles.

Anecdote
A deer has been coming into our garden to eat the apples that have fallen off our trees.
