Perhaps if the newly-installed "Unsuitable for HGVs" signs had been placed more than 20cm off the ground, this kind of thing would no longer happen.

Anecdote
Well that journey to the tip took longer than I was expecting. When I set off up Argent's Lane, I wasn't anticipating having to drive back down it in reverse for 50 metres.
Perhaps if the newly-installed "Unsuitable for HGVs" signs had been placed more than 20cm off the ground, this kind of thing would no longer happen.
