Anecdote
I didn't get home from Berlin until 1am this morning.
In part it was my fault, because when I filled in the web form for how long I wanted meet-and-greet parking, I apparently chose the Sunday a week after the Sunday I was actually returning. It took 45 minutes for them to recover my vehicle from whatever field they'd stored it in.
The flight was also delayed, though, taking off an hour later than it was supposed to because of inclement weather at Stansted. I can't say I think much of Shoenefeld Airport as a place to spend an hour trapped in a corridor (people were sitting on the floor everywhere — it was like Friday night in the accident and emergency department of an English hospital); however, it was preferable to what happened to most of the flights before ours that evening, which weren't delayed but were diverted to Gatwick instead. I don't know what time I would have arrived home if I'd landed at Gatwick with no car (and, this being the weekend, no trains either).
I'm quite pleased, though, that despite being tired at only getting 5 hours of sleep, I managed to give my CE317 lecture (the most boring of the course) without drifting off into slumber.
