Anecdote
We got a new carpet installed a couple of weeks ago, and as a result had some offcuts. We also had a bin with a cloth exterior that kept falling down through age. We've been looking for a replacement, but it's surprisingly difficult to find a decent metal bin these days.
Idea! Why not carpet the old bin?
It only took me 45 minutes of cutting a quarter of an inch at a time with a Stanley knife. It sheds pieces of carpet all over the place, but that doesn't show if you stand it on the carpet it's made out of.
Well I like it, even if my wife doesn't...
