Anecdote
I finished playing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen yesterday, although I wasn't intending to. I handed in what I thought was a regular quest, got some message about not being able to come back for some time, carried on anyway and found myself in the endgame. I had to beat a puny boss and then it was game over. If I'd known it was going to be the end, I might have prepared for it by bringing some more potions and stuff (not that I needed them); I would also have taken off my character's full-face helmet, so that all the cut scene animations and close-up reaction shots wouldn't have shown me an expressionless piece of metal.
The game grew on me after a while, and although I would probably have stopped playing soon anyway (I blew nearly half my monthly download limit on Black Desert, so will be playing that) I'll be a little sad to see the end of it. Maybe I'll try it again some time (especially as I have now learned that when I get to the end, the boss I will be fighting will be the character I've just stopped playing).
