Anecdote
It was the annual NSPCC Book Fair at the weekend, so I went along as usual and spent half an hour wandering among rows of books, pushing my way between strange-smelling people to see if there was anything that might be interesting to read. Well, except in the extensive sections on trains, gardening and cookery, which I spared barely a glance, obviously.
Why is it that all books for girls in the 1920s have covers like this?
Didn't they have sports clothes back then? Or are those the sports clothes?
