Anecdote
I've spent today unable to hear out of my right ear. I've been waking up in the morning for the past couple of weeks with it bunged up, but it's always cleared within a few minutes. Not today. I'm going to have to go to the pharmacist tomorrow to buy the ear canal equivalent of drain unblocker. It's on the same side as my bad eyelid, so I'm missing quite a bit of sensory information on my right.
Looking at it positively, though, at least it means that my wife can't sneak up on me on my right and say something loudly that makes me jump.
