Sadly, its being my birthday was not regarded as a valid reason to excuse me from attending this morning's 3.5-hour staff meeting. I can't tell you how stimulated I was by the discussion, mainly because I wasn't paying attention the majority of it. Fortunately, I had brought some paper with me so that everyone could see I was taking notes.
