Anecdote
I grew up next to the coast, and could see the sea from my bedroom window. There was a one-storey church hall outside our house, beyond which was a field, beyond which was another field with fixed-place caravans in it, beyond which was the sea.
The church hall fell into disrepair. Here's what it looked like in 2004:
The following year, they knocked it down:
It remained like that until this year, when the land was finally put to new use:
I can still see the sea from my old bedroom window, just not so much of it:
Even though I've lived inland for over 30 years now, I still miss being able to see the sea from my bedroom window...
