Anecdote
First first: until today, I had never been on an aircraft that aborted its landing and took off again. The pilot said he wasn't sure whether he'd hit a sink or we'd run out of wind. Neither seemed an entirely satisfactory answer...
Second first: until today, I had never been to Billericay. However, that's where the train I'm sitting on is heading, there apparently being roadworks on the Colchester line. I'll have to take a bus from Billericay back home. Gee, thanks, Anglia Railways: If I'd wanted to take a bus I could have done so from Heathrow at half the price and have arrived home an hour before I'm going to now.
