Anecdote
Our boiler has been misbehaving for several weeks. In fact, it could have been misbehaving for months and we've only noticed it recently. What happens is that when there's a demand for hot water, the boiler comes on and heats up the radiators. It may be that if the radiators are on in their own right then we get hot water; I don't know for sure because I don't want to put the heating on to test it out.
Until last week, we were still getting hot water out of our hot water taps. However, all of a sudden it stoppped. I endured three very lukewarm showers, and was getting to thinking that maybe we ought to call in the plumbers. Then, yesterday, it started to make juddering noises as if a pump had broken, so we switched it off.
As a result, I didn't have the shower I was hoping to have this morning. My hair is all sticky-up at the back, as if I was standing too close to a hand grenade when it went off. At the front, it's like tarpaulin.
Oh well, at least it'll act as a nice disguise for when the students who took my exam today hunt me down to exact vengeance.
