Anecdote
I went to London today, to meet up with Wanda Gregory of the University of Washington, who's visiting the city with her son. We took a walk through Chinatown, and noticed, well, this:
Although a passer-by told us it was the Soho Hotel burning to the ground, it was actually an office building. I think everyone got out safely, but the building has been gutted.
Still, on the every-cloud-has-a-silver-lining front, at least our visitors got a passable sense of what a London was like in the days of pea-souper fogs.
