5 Minutes

Anecdote

I went to the Georgia Tech campus for breakfast, seeing as how my room had a moat. It's only a 5-minute walk away from the hotel, if that, yet on the way I was accosted four separate times by people begging for money. None of them seemed violent (even the one who thought I was called Jim, and who only had one volume to his voice — bellow). Indeed, two of them seemed to have been recent victims of violence, with one of them in particular having a set of open cuts on the bridge of his nose.

By sheer coincidence, four also happens also to be the number of churches within a five-minute walk of the hotel. I don't know if the panhandlers and the presence of so many churches are connected, or, come to that, whether they should be.
