I've just spent the past 5 hours playing Icewind Dale II, its being the only game in the Baldur's Gate series I haven't played before. It's 5 years old, and IWD1 was rather linear, but I've been meaning to play it for 5 years so here I am. Or rather, there I was. I spent the last 2 hours trying to kill a dragon which was simply not yielding to any sane forms of attack, at least with my party make-up. Eventually, I figured that since I needed to beat this thing to reach the next plot point, I was going to have to forget about any treasure it might be carrying and cast a disintegrate spell on it. So, for the past 30 minutes I've been loading the game, watching the same tiresome animation as the dragon appears, trying to disintegrate it (twice, then it kills my mage), until finally — yes! — it worked!
The dragon faded from view, and this is what I saw:
Now that's taking defeat rather badly...
