Anecdote
This happened two days ago, but I only just remembered to blog it.
I was walking through central Hannover and came across a beggar sitting near the exit to an underpass, holding a cup for people to fill with shiny euros. A small child was pestering his mother for some money to put in the cup, and (against her better judgment, I think) she finally relented. Gleefully the child ran off to a completely random youth who was leaning against a wall reading a music magazine near the beggar, and it was only at the last moment that the boy's mother managed to stop him putting his coin in the cup of coffee in the youth's hand.
Yeah, I know, I could have lied and said he actually did put the coin in the coffee cup, which would have made for a much better anecdote, but I'm just too honest.
