Anecdote
One of my colleagues came to my office for a meeting today, and I suggested we "go for a coffee" because my office is small and pokey and shared. He seemed surprised, but agreed. Then he led us up the stairs to his office, rather than go to the coffee shoppe.
Only now do I realise he must have thought I'd suggested we "go fuck off".
Groan...
