Taped

Anecdote

Every once in a while I put together a tape of music to listen to in the car (or, increasingly often these days, of music not to listen to but to prevent my having to listen to the music my kids want to hear).

For purposes related to the fact that taping music is illegal in the UK, I'd now like to state that the above statement is entirely false.

These are the tracks on the tape that has survived longest in my car (some 15 or 16 years — I had a dot matrix printer at the time):

Side A

• Respighi: Ancient Airs II no. 4
• Sibelius: 6^th Symphony, 1^st mvt.
• Dvorak: String Serenade, 1^st mvt.
• Glass: Facades (I think it's no. 3, would have to check)
• Dvorak: Piano Concerto, 3^rd mvt.
• Britten: Simple Symphony, 2^nd mvt.
• Vaughan Williams: English Folk Song Suite (the Folk Song from Somerset excerpt)
• Sibelius: 5^th Symphony, 1^st mvt.

Side B

• Schubert: 5^th Symphony, 1^st mvt.
• Glass: Metamorphosis One
• Sibelius: 3^rd Symphony, 2^nd mvt.
• Glass: In the Upper Room, VIII
• Schumann: Piano Concerto, 1^st mvt.
• Nielsen: Little Suite, 2^nd mvt.
• Satie: Gnossienne no. 2
• Sibelius: 5^th Symphony, 3^rd mvt.

I thought I'd better post this while people still remember what tapes are...
