I stated last year that I was hoping the writing of QBlog would reduce my urge to write to The Independent complaining about the state of the world. I was finally beginning to think it had worked, as it's almost a year since they last published a letter from me. However, I now believe the pendulum may have swung too far the other way.
A couple of days ago, I blogged the observation that there was a wave of articles telling people not interested in the World Cup how to avoid it. There were so many, in fact, that they themselves had got to the stage of something to be avoided. Anyway, on a whim I emailed it to The Independent yesterday and today they published it. I probably wouldn't have written to them if I hadn't written the QBlog piece.
Maybe the FA will offer me a ticket to an England match as a way of easing my sorrow?
