Why did those bombers strike at the London tube system?
Because airport security has been improved.
I was in London today for an interview at the BBC (an hour of talking to be compressed into 75 seconds of comment a week on Sunday), and the police were everywhere. Every tube station was guarded, every rail station was guarded, and there were officers on the trains themselves. Outside the BBC I was stopped multiple times by police seeking information about the Shepherd's Bush suspect. Security was amazing.
All the more surprising, then, that during my entire journey from Colchester to London and back using the Julie tickets I was never asked by anyone to produce them. I could have travelled for free.
