Anecdote
On my way to the supermarket this morning, I listened to the Radio 4 travel program, Excess Baggage. Toward the end, bemoaning the fact that national cuisines were becoming diluted in character ("you can get sushi in Cairo", that kind of thing), one of the commentators said that the problem was "the world is becoming global".
