Anecdote
I finished my second game of Civ4 last night. It only took me a week, playing 4 or 5 hours every night plus maybe another 5 per day at the weekend. Much of that time was spent watching my laptop hanging or crashing, of course.
Yes, I know I said I wasn't going to play it until it was patched, but long-time friend of QBlog, Eddy Carroll, put me onto a thread that explained how to prevent my computer from giving a Blue Screen of Death when subjected to Civ4's attentions. Apparently, the root cause is my 64-bit Athlon's self-defence mechanism, which is intended to prevent crashes from badly-written software but is powerless against very badly-written software.
Will I start my third game of Civ4 tonight?
No, I won't.
I already started it last night, immediately after I finished game two.
