Just for fun, and to spook all QBlog's American readers, I thought I'd check out what the flag of the USA would have looked like if they'd used the same symbolism but swapped the partitions. Here's the result:
Hmm, somewhat reminiscent of the flag of Australia.
For those who are interested in such things, a quick scoot around the Internet reveals that this is a modern version of the Easton Flag (more stars, fewer points on the stars). It would appear that the early specification document was a little ambiguous...
