Miscellaneous
Having forced it into submission, my recalcitrant HP Photosmart 2610 printer had one final trick to play on me: it installs itself as the default printer on a system reboot. I don't want it to be my default printer — I have a Laserjet 4L to print 50-page papers in black-and-white. I only want to use the Photosmart when I explicitly have a need to use it for colour printing. Otherwise, its black cartridge won't last more than a fortnight before needing to be replaced.
