Overpayment

Comment

Apparently, I overpaid my income tax by £3,800.58 last year. The Inland Revenue wants to give me it back.

Although, of course, I'm pleased at the prospect of being given back my £3,800.58, nevertheless I'm a little concerned. I do sometimes overpay, but not normally by this amount. I don't want to spend it and then find I have to repay it because it's a mistake.

My tax office has changed this year, because due to an administrative device used by the University of Portsmouth (where I'm external examiner) I was switched to the East Hampshire and Wight tax office. I'm wondering if they had all the information they needed.

I'll phone them, and see what they say...
