Cutting Out

Weird

Here's a school photograph featuring my grandmother (2nd row from back, 5th from left) and her twin sister (2nd row from front, 4th from left). They were born in 1911, so this would have been taken before 1920.

My grandmother was a kind, sweet and gentle person. If someone hurt her, she never hurt them back. Her only act of retribution was to cut them out of photographs, a bit like the way that ancient Egyptian rulers would have images of their disapproved-of ancestors defaced. She also cut herself out of photos if she didn't like the expression she was pulling.

I don't know who was third from the left on the back row, but they did something to offend my grandmother so off they went.

I don't think there was a bad dog at the front there, that's just a regular tear....
