Anecdote
Having made the mistake of looking underneath my mother's bed at the weekend and finding 4 boxes of old photographs, I took them home and have started to go through them. Among them was this:
It seems to have been kept by my mother's mother thanks to a message on the back from her own mother saying she thought she'd like the picture "for your book" (I think she must have meant a scrapbook, because my grandma used to make those). I'll hang onto it, because it's an example of my great-grandmother's handwriting.
That said, I could probably have sold it for £200 a week ago.
