Anecdote
There isn't much traffic in Visby, which is probably just as well. On two occasions today I saw people crash their hire bicycles and come off.
So, there seem to be people of student age on the island at the moment, who hire bicycles and ride around as groups. Being of student age, they can't last more than a few seconds without looking at their phones. While so engaged, they can't see where they're going and run into a friend. One or other then falls off.
I'm sure this is only a temporary state of affairs and that 10 years from now we'll all be riding driverless bicycles for safety. Well, all of us whom evolution hasn't taken care of before then, anyway...
