Anecdote
We had a staff/student social event today. Cakes and pastries were bought, coffee and tea arranged, and a raffle for Easter eggs set up. All first- and second-year students in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering were invited.
This was at 10am on a Monday morning.
It turned out to be a staff social event. Three students showed up, matching exactly the number of Easter eggs given away in the raffle as prizes. I scoffed three cream cakes and I don't know how many other sugar-laden goodies. It was great!
I know I complain about how students can't get out of bed for my lectures in the morning, but every cloud has a silver lining.
