Anecdote
My mother called me to ask a question about the laptop I gave her. She'd been using it for a while before she noticed she hadn't plugged it in. She was concerned she may have broken it.
I assured her that being able to run on no power would be a miracle, not a fault, and that it has a battery.
As a precuationary measure, I also told her that it wasn't a normal battery like in a torch or anything so she shouldn't try to find it to put in a replacement.
