Anecdote
I received an email from the university's ISS group this morning:
Easier, eh? We still have to change them every 4 months using the same web form, only we have to make them longer now as well. That doesn't actually sound easier...
I'd complain that my system for creating a new password from my old password is now broken, because my current password only has 7 characters; however, the integerI increment each iteration clocks over to 10 next time round, so I'll be OK.
I'm of the opinion that the more often people have to change their passwords, the more likely they are to write them down and then any random passer-by can see them. Still, I don't make these rules, I merely increment my integer every time they ask...
